If you’re looking for a quiet calming beach, Butterfly Beach is hidden away beneath Biltmore Hotel in Montecito. If something in between is more to your liking, Leadbetter Beach is for you. For the daring, Hendry’s nude beach or Arryo Burro (referred to the locals as Hendry’s Beach) is where you can bring your unleashed dogs and frolic away. Make sure to do at least one water activity; kayaking, surfing, scuba diving, stand up paddle boarding to just name a few. If water is not your thing, then you can rent a bike instead.

For the sophisticated palate, Santa Barbara’s isolated wine country is the perfect get away. Wine Country is north of 101 in the Solvang region. Santa Barbara’s back country is actually part of the Vitner’s Association. If little ones are with you, the Santa Barbara Zoo will be perfect for a family outing. Children will love the zoo’s baby otters, Daniel the giraffe, Lucky the penguin (he has a special shoe), and all the other animals there. The zoo even boasts a dinosaur that has its own show!
